THE DIGEST
Town of Poughkeepsie Awarded $119,000 for Traffic Safety Upgrades
Town Supervisor Rebecca Edwards praised the funding as a major step toward addressing residents’ most common concern, speeding.
“Speeding is the number one concern Town residents call my office about,” said Supervisor Edwards. “With more tools like trailers and speed display signs, our Police Department will have more resources to address unsafe driving all over town. I’m deeply grateful to Assemblymember Barrett for securing these funds and to our Police for their daily commitment to keeping our community safe.”
Police Chief Joseph Cavaliere also expressed appreciation, noting the impact this investment will have on public safety.
“These funds will help us purchase much-needed traffic enforcement and control equipment,” said Chief Cavaliere. “This new equipment will be a huge force multiplier, allowing us to monitor more roadways and better notify drivers about intersections and speed limits.” |
