THE DIGEST

2025 County Budget Adopted!

The Dutchess County Legislature has approved the $629.4 million 2025 County Budget with a bipartisan vote of 23-2.

Among the notable amendments:

  • $75,000 spearheaded by Legislator Lisa Kaul to fund a study on waste reduction, diversion, and alternative disposal technologies. This initiative reflects years of advocacy from community groups and will help identify sustainable solutions for managing waste while promoting economic growth in the reuse sector.

  • $100,000 led by Assistant Minority Leader Barrington Atkins to create a competitive grant program for organizations providing vital services, such as meals for individuals experiencing homelessness.

  • $50,000 proposed by Atkins to contract with a vendor to provide community health services at the emergency housing facility, ensuring support for the most vulnerable populations.
