The Town of Poughkeepsie is excited to partner with award-winning Nesterly to help residents earn extra income and expand affordable housing options. Nesterly connects people who have extra space in their homes with those looking for longer-term housing (one month or more). Stays can last from a summer to a full year and beyond. Safety is a top priority: both Hosts and Guests go through a 7-point background check, and Nesterly provides support every step of the way. For more information, call (877) 958-8785, visit nesterly.com, or contact the Town Supervisor’s Office at (845) 485-3607. |

The Poughkeepsie Public Library District has a local history blog, and we found this to be an inspiring story to share! On November 1, 1958, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Robinson, and the Dutchess County NAACP organized a concert at Poughkeepsie High School to support school desegregation efforts. The event brought over 1,500 people together and raised $3,500 for the cause. It’s a reminder that local actions can drive national change — and that history still shapes our future. Read more. |
