![]() | The Town of Poughkeepsie Hosted its first Food Pantry at the Town Hall Meeting room last week in partnership with Dutchess Outreach. 7,000 lbs of food were distributed. Additional food pantries will be held. Subscribe to the Supervisor’s newsletter for updates. |
The City of Poughkeepsie Common Council appointed Sakima McClinton to serve the remainder of the unexpired Eighth Ward term. Meanwhile, Daniel Atonna, who was recommended to the council by former Eighth Ward representative Meghan Deichler, has announced his candidacy for the seat.

The old Schatz factory, once a key part of Poughkeepsie’s industrial history, has remained a blighted landmark since its closure in 1980. At its peak in the 1940s, the factory employed 1,200 workers producing ball bearings for major companies like Ford and NAPA, but foreign competition and industry shifts led to its decline.
