Celebrate American Asian Heritage Month

Did you know Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed in May? There are plenty of ways to celebrate around Dutchess County:

"Stream of Life" Poetry Event at FDR Presidential Library. May 8th at 6 PM. Visit the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum for a free poetry event. Click here.

Orchestra Conducted by Tan Dun. May 11th at 7 PM. Chinese-born conductor Tan Dun is a world-renowned talent. Notably, he won an Academy Award and Grammy awards for his score for the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. He leads the Bard Conservatory Orchestra for a special performance of both original works and renditions of Stravinsky and Passacaglia. Click here for tickets.

Kintsugi Workshop. May 14th at 6 PM. The ancient practice of Kintsugi teaches us to embrace flaws and imperfections. This Japanese tradition highlights the beauty of blemishes by breaking pottery bowls, studying the pieces, and gluing them back together with gold. Click here.

Asian American Heritage Night - Hudson Valley Renegades. May 29th. Enjoy a night of Hudson Valley Renegades baseball honoring the region's diverse Asian-American heritage. Click here.
